The Law of Peace Offerings

‘Now if his offering is a (A)sacrifice of peace offerings, if he is going to offer out of the herd, whether male or female, he shall offer it (B)without defect before the Lord. (C)He shall lay his hand on the head of his offering and (D)slay it at the doorway of the tent of meeting, and Aaron’s sons the priests shall sprinkle the blood around on the altar. From the sacrifice of the peace offerings he shall present an offering by fire to the Lord, the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails, and the two kidneys with the fat that is on them, which is on the loins, and the [a]lobe of the liver, which he shall remove with the kidneys. Then (E)Aaron’s sons shall offer it up in smoke on the altar (F)on the burnt offering, which is on the wood that is on the fire; (G)it is an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to the Lord. But if his offering for a sacrifice of peace offerings to the Lord is from the flock, he shall offer it, male or female, (H)without defect. If he is going to offer (I)a lamb for his offering, then he shall offer it (J)before the Lord, and (K)he shall lay his hand on the head of his offering and (L)slay it before the tent of meeting, and Aaron’s sons shall (M)sprinkle its blood around on the altar. From the (N)sacrifice of peace offerings he shall bring as an offering by fire to the Lord, its fat, [b]the entire fat tail which he shall remove close to the backbone, and the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails, 10 and the two kidneys with the fat that is on them, which is on the loins, and the [c]lobe of the liver, which he shall remove (O)with the kidneys. 11 Then the priest shall offer it up in smoke (P)on the altar as (Q)food, an offering by fire to the Lord.

12 ‘Moreover, if his offering is (R)a goat, then he shall offer it before the Lord, 13 and he shall lay his hand on its head and slay it before the tent of meeting, and the sons of Aaron shall sprinkle its blood around on the altar. 14 From it he shall present his offering as an offering by fire to the Lord, the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails, 15 and the two kidneys with the fat that is on them, which is on the loins, and the [d]lobe of the liver, which he shall remove (S)with the kidneys. 16 The priest shall offer them up in smoke on the altar as food, an offering by fire for a soothing aroma; (T)all fat is the Lord’s. 17 It is a (U)perpetual statute throughout your generations in all your dwellings: you shall not eat any fat (V)or any blood.’”

The Law of Sin Offerings

Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘If a person sins (W)unintentionally in any of the [e]things which the Lord has (X)commanded not to be done, and commits any of them, (Y)if the anointed priest sins so as to bring guilt on the people, then let him offer to the Lord a [f]bull without defect as a sin offering for the sin he has [g]committed. He shall bring the bull to the doorway of the tent of meeting before the Lord, and (Z)he shall lay his hand on the head of the bull and slay the bull before the Lord. Then the (AA)anointed priest is to take some of the blood of the bull and bring it to the tent of meeting, and the priest shall dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle some of the blood seven times before the Lord, in front of (AB)the veil of the sanctuary. The priest shall also put some of the blood on the horns of (AC)the altar of fragrant incense which is before the Lord in the tent of meeting; and all the blood of the bull he shall pour out at the base of the altar of burnt offering which is at the doorway of the tent of meeting. (AD)He shall remove from it all the fat of the bull of the sin offering: the fat that covers the entrails, and all the fat which is on the entrails, and the two kidneys with the fat that is on them, which is on the loins, and the [h]lobe of the liver, which he shall remove (AE)with the kidneys 10 (just as it is removed from the ox of the sacrifice of peace offerings), and the priest is to offer them up in smoke on the altar of burnt offering. 11 But (AF)the hide of the bull and all its flesh with its head and its legs and its entrails and its refuse, 12 [i]that is, all the rest of the bull, he is to bring out to (AG)a clean place outside the camp where the [j]ashes are poured out, and burn it on wood with fire; where the [k]ashes are poured out it shall be burned.

13 (AH)Now if the whole congregation of Israel commits error and the matter [l]escapes the notice of the assembly, and they commit any of the [m]things which the Lord has commanded not to be done, and they become guilty; 14 (AI)when the sin [n]which they have [o]committed becomes known, then the assembly shall offer (AJ)a [p]bull of the herd for a sin offering and bring it before the tent of meeting. 15 Then (AK)the elders of the congregation shall lay their hands on the head of the bull before the Lord, and the bull shall be slain (AL)before the Lord. 16 Then the anointed priest is to bring some of the blood of the bull to the tent of meeting; 17 and (AM)the priest shall dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle it seven times before the Lord, in front of the veil. 18 He shall put some of the blood on the horns of (AN)the altar which is before the Lord [q]in the tent of meeting; and all the blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of burnt offering which is at the doorway of the tent of meeting. 19 (AO)He shall remove all its fat from it and offer it up in smoke on the altar. 20 He shall also do with the bull just as he did with (AP)the bull of the sin offering; thus he shall do with it. So (AQ)the priest shall make atonement for them, and they will be forgiven. 21 Then he is to bring out the bull to a place outside the camp and burn it as he burned the first bull; it is (AR)the sin offering for the assembly.

22 ‘When (AS)a leader (AT)sins and unintentionally does any one of all the [r]things which the Lord his God has commanded not to be done, and he becomes guilty, 23 [s](AU)if his sin [t]which he has committed is made known to him, he shall bring for his offering a [u](AV)goat, (AW)a male without defect. 24 He shall lay his hand on the head of the male goat and slay it in the place where [v]they slay the burnt offering before the Lord; it is a sin offering. 25 Then the priest is to take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger and put it on (AX)the horns of the altar of burnt offering; and the rest of its blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of burnt offering. 26 (AY)All its fat he shall offer up in smoke on the altar as in the case of the fat of the sacrifice of peace offerings. Thus (AZ)the priest shall make atonement for him in regard to his sin, and he will be forgiven.

27 ‘Now if [w]anyone of [x]the common people sins (BA)unintentionally in doing any of the [y]things which the Lord has commanded not to be done, and becomes guilty, 28 [z](BB)if his sin which he has [aa]committed is made known to him, then he shall bring for his offering a [ab](BC)goat, a (BD)female without defect, for his sin which he has [ac]committed. 29 (BE)He shall lay his hand on the head of the sin offering and (BF)slay the sin offering at the place of the burnt offering. 30 The priest shall take some of its blood with his finger and put it on the horns of (BG)the altar of burnt offering; and (BH)all the rest of its blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar. 31 (BI)Then he shall remove all its fat, just as the fat was removed from the sacrifice of peace offerings; and the priest shall offer it up in smoke on the altar for (BJ)a soothing aroma to the Lord. Thus the priest shall make atonement for him, [ad]and he will be forgiven.

32 ‘But if he brings (BK)a lamb as his offering for a sin offering, he shall bring it, a female without defect. 33 (BL)He shall lay his hand on the head of the sin offering and slay it for a sin offering (BM)in the place where [ae]they slay the burnt offering. 34 The priest is to take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger and put it on the horns of (BN)the altar of burnt offering, and (BO)all the rest of its blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar. 35 Then he shall remove (BP)all its fat, just as the fat of the lamb is removed from the sacrifice of the peace offerings, and the priest shall offer them up in smoke on the altar, on the offerings by fire to the Lord. Thus (BQ)the priest shall make atonement for him in regard to his sin which he has [af]committed, and he will be forgiven.

13 But as for me, my prayer is to You, O Lord, (A)at an acceptable time;
O God, in the (B)greatness of Your lovingkindness,
Answer me with [a]Your saving truth.
14 Deliver me from the (C)mire and do not let me sink;
May I be (D)delivered from [b]my foes and from the [c](E)deep waters.
15 May the [d](F)flood of water not overflow me
Nor the deep swallow me up,
Nor the (G)pit shut its mouth on me.

16 Answer me, O Lord, for (H)Your lovingkindness is good;
(I)According to the greatness of Your compassion, (J)turn to me,
17 And (K)do not hide Your face from Your servant,
For I am (L)in distress; answer me quickly.
18 Oh draw near to my soul and (M)redeem it;
(N)Ransom me because of my enemies!
19 You know my (O)reproach and my shame and my dishonor;
All my adversaries are [e]before You.

20 Reproach has (P)broken my heart and I am so sick.
And (Q)I looked for sympathy, but there was none,
And for (R)comforters, but I found none.
21 They also gave me [f](S)gall [g]for my food
And for my thirst they (T)gave me vinegar to drink.

31 (A)Then He took the twelve aside and said to them, “Behold, (B)we are going up to Jerusalem, and (C)all things which are written through the prophets about the Son of Man will be accomplished. 32 (D)For He will be [a]handed over to the Gentiles, and will be mocked and mistreated and spit upon, 33 and after they have scourged Him, they will kill Him; and the third day He will rise again.” 34 But (E)the disciples understood none of these things, and the meaning of this statement was hidden from them, and they did not comprehend the things that were said.

Bartimaeus Receives Sight

35 (F)As [b](G)Jesus was approaching Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the road begging. 36 Now hearing a crowd going by, he began to inquire what this was. 37 They told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. 38 And he called out, saying, “Jesus, (H)Son of David, have mercy on me!” 39 Those who led the way were sternly telling him to be quiet; but he kept crying out all the more, “(I)Son of David, have mercy on me!” 40 And Jesus stopped and commanded that he be brought to Him; and when he came near, He questioned him, 41 “What do you want Me to do for you?” And he said, “Lord, I want to regain my sight!” 42 And Jesus said to him, [c]Receive your sight; (J)your faith has [d]made you well.” 43 Immediately he regained his sight and began following Him, (K)glorifying God; and when (L)all the people saw it, they gave praise to God.
